The days and weeks after birth can leave the perineal area sore, swollen, and sensitive; especially after stitches or tearing. Our postpartum perineal spray combines witch hazel, aloe vera, cucumber, and tea tree oil in a gentle formula that you spray onto the area for soothing relief. Add to your sitz bath, peri bottle, or use straight from the bottle at every pad change. No touching, no wiping, no preparation required.
Alcohol-free | Fragrance-free | No harsh chemicals
What It Does
- Soothes stinging after urinating — spray immediately after using the toilet to neutralise the sting of urine on tender perineal skin
- Soothes swelling and inflammation — witch hazel’s natural tannins have recognised anti-inflammatory properties
- Soothes haemorrhoids — spray directly onto haemorrhoid tissue for soothing relief
- Cools and refreshes — aloe vera and cucumber create a cooling sensation on contact
- Gentle on stitches — the fine mist applies without friction or pressure on healing tissue
Key Ingredients
- Witch Hazel Leaf Water (Hamamelis virginiana) — anti-inflammatory, cooling, toning; the base of the formula
- Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) — soothes and hydrates irritated skin
- Cucumber Extract (Cucumis Sativus) — cooling and refreshing
Note: this product contains lavender extract. If you have a known lavender sensitivity, please check the full ingredient list before purchasing.
How to Use
- Shake the bottle gently before each use.
- Apply to the perineal area after using the toilet, after bathing, or after changing a maternity pad.
- Allow the mist to settle naturally, do not wipe or rub.
- Use as often as needed throughout the day. The formula is safe for regular use.
- For extra cooling relief, store the bottle in the refrigerator, the chilled mist provides more intense comfort.
- To make a soothing compress, spray onto a maternity pad or cotton pad. To make a padsicle, spray, then freeze flat for up to 6 months.
Note: If you've had tears or grazes it may sting a bit initially if spray directily unto open wound. Try using it as a compress in the first few days.
When to Start Using It
You can begin using our Perineal Spray from day one after a vaginal birth, or from day one of your C-section recovery (applied away from the incision site). You can also use it during pregnancy to soothe perineal soreness or swelling, and after intimate moments to refresh delicate skin.
Most women find the spray most essential in the first 1 - 3 weeks after birth. Continue for as long as it provides comfort - there is no reason to stop.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the Perineal Spray with stitches?
Yes. Our Perineal Spray is safe to use with perineal stitches from birth. The fine mist applies without friction or direct pressure on healing tissue, making it more comfortable than wiping or patting. It is alcohol-free, so it will not sting or dry out healing skin. For sensitive areas directly on stitches, you can apply to a cotton pad as a compress rather than spraying directly.
Does the Perineal Spray contain alcohol?
No. Our Perineal Spray is completely alcohol-free. It uses alcohol-free witch hazel leaf water as its base, which provides the soothing and cooling benefits of witch hazel without the drying effect of alcohol formulations. This makes it suitable for sensitive postpartum skin and safe for regular use throughout the day.
Can I use the Perineal Spray after a C-section?
Yes. Our Perineal Spray can be used to gently refresh and soothe delicate skin after a C-section. Apply directly, or spray onto a tissue or cotton pad for a gentle compress. Avoid applying directly to the surgical incision site without medical guidance, but it is suitable for use on other areas of sensitive skin including haemorrhoids.
Can I use the Perineal Spray during pregnancy?
Yes. You can use our Perineal Spray during pregnancy to soothe perineal soreness, swelling or haemorrhoids that are common in the third trimester. It is also a useful addition to your hospital bag for use immediately after delivery.
Does the Perineal Spray contain lavender?
Yes. Our Peri Spray contains lavender flower extract (Lavandula angustifolia). If you have a known lavender or fragrance sensitivity, please review the full ingredient list before purchasing and consult with your midwife or GP if unsure.
