Our Brief-Style Maternity Pads are all-in-one maternity knickers and pad designed for heavy postpartum bleeding in the first days after birth. Soft, breathable and highly absorbent with a unique 360° wraparound design, individually wrapped for hygiene and convenience. No separate pad required. Worn like regular underwear, pull on, change when damp. Suitable for all birth types.
In the first 24 - 72 hours after birth, bleeding is at its heaviest. Standard maternity pads in regular underwear can shift, leak and feel uncomfortable against tender perineal skin. Our Brief-Style Maternity Pads solve both problems: the all-in-one design eliminates pad movement, while the soft, seamless structure sits gently against postpartum skin without rubbing.
Features
- 360° wraparound protection — absorbs from all directions including the sides, reducing leakage risk during the heaviest postpartum flow
- Soft cotton-like top sheet — gentle on sensitive postpartum skin and perineal stitches
- Side guards — extra security for peace of mind during daily movement
- Individually wrapped — hygienic, easy to carry, easy to dispose of
- No underwear required — worn like regular knickers for simplicity and comfort
How to Use
- Select your size. If between sizes, size up for the most comfortable fit.
- Step into and pull up like regular underwear.
- Change every 3 - 4 hours, or more frequently if very heavy.
- Dispose of in the bin after each use.
Sizing Guide
Our Brief-Style Maternity Pads are available in multiple sizes. We recommend sizing up if you are between sizes or if you are unsure, a looser fit is more comfortable and provides better protection than a size that is too snug. Body size during pregnancy and postpartum varies considerably, our size guide is a starting point, not an exact fit guarantee.
When to Use Them
Brief-Style Maternity Pads are most useful in the first 2 weeks of postpartum bleeding when flow is heaviest. Many women then transition to regular maternity pads as bleeding reduces, followed by standard pads or liners as the lochia lightens. You can also use them during your menstrual cycle as a period pant alternative.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should Brief-Style Maternity Pads be changed?
Change every 3 - 4 hours, or more frequently if needed. In the first 24 hours after birth when bleeding is heaviest, you may need to change more often. Never leave a saturated pad in place, changing regularly is important for hygiene and reduces infection risk.
How many pads will I need postpartum?
Most women need 8 - 12 pad changes per day in the first 1 - 3 days, then 4 - 6 per day as bleeding reduces. For the heaviest phase, pack at least 12 - 15 pads for your hospital bag. We recommend having 2 - 3 packs available for the first two weeks at home.
Can I use these with a perineal spray or balm?
Yes. Our Perineal Spray can be sprayed directly onto the pad before wearing for additional soothing comfort, or sprayed onto the perineal area before pulling the pad up. You can also freeze a spray-soaked pad to make a padsicle for extra cold relief in the first days.
Are they safe for sensitive skin and stitches?
Yes. The soft cotton-like top sheet is gentle on sensitive postpartum skin and is suitable for use with perineal stitches or bruising. If you experience any skin irritation, discontinue use.
