Our Perineal Balm is a naturally soothing herbal balm formulated to ease perineal swelling, soreness and bruising after birth. Helps to moisturise dry, healing skin, soothes itchy stitches and relieves haemorrhoids during pregnancy and postpartum. Blended with St. John’s Wort, calendula, arnica and tamanu oil, herbs and botanicals with recognised anti-inflammatory and skin-healing properties. Apply from day one after birth, 2 - 3 times daily.

Vegan | 100% Natural

What It Helps With

  • Perineal swelling, bruising and soreness after vaginal delivery
  • Itchy, tight or uncomfortable stitches and perineal tears
  • Haemorrhoids during pregnancy and postpartum
  • Dry, tight skin around the healing perineum
  • Soreness or itching after C-section incisions (applied away from the incision)

Key Ingredients and What They Do

  • St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) — reduces pain and swelling when applied topically; traditionally used for wound healing and nerve pain
  • Calendula (Calendula officinalis) — supports the skin’s natural healing process; gentle and anti-inflammatory
  • Arnica (Arnica montana) — reduces bruising and swelling from physical trauma; a traditional remedy for post-birth recovery
  • Tamanu Oil (Calophyllum inophyllum) — rich moisturising oil that promotes healing of skin and scar tissue (note: derived from a tree nut, see allergy note below)
  • Sunflower Oil (Helianthus annuus) — light carrier oil that absorbs well and nourishes healing skin (note: contains sunflower seed oil, see allergy note)

Allergy note: This balm contains tamanu oil (tree nut) and sunflower seed oil. It is not recommended if you have nut or seed allergies. Please review the full ingredient list before purchasing.

How to Use

  1. Apply a small amount of balm to the perineal area 2 - 3 times daily as needed.
  2. Apply after using the toilet, after a sitz bath, or after changing a maternity pad.
  3. Use your fingers to gently apply to the external perineal area. Avoid internal use.
  4. For haemorrhoid relief, apply directly to the affected external area.
  5. Store in the refrigerator for extra soothing relief on inflamed or itchy tissue.

For best results, use after your Peri Spray, the spray provides immediate cooling relief, and the balm provides lasting hydration and healing support. The two products are designed to work together as a postpartum perineal care routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the Perineal Balm immediately after birth?

Yes. You can apply our Perineal Balm from day one after birth. Apply externally to the perineal area 2 - 3 times daily, or as needed for comfort. It is suitable for use whether you have stitches, bruising, swelling or haemorrhoids.

Is the Perineal Balm safe if I am taking antidepressants? It contains St. John’s Wort.

When applied topically and diluted in a balm, St. John’s Wort does not carry the same interaction risk as oral St. John’s Wort supplements, which can interact with antidepressants. Topical application means the active compounds are not absorbed into the bloodstream in significant quantities. However, if you have specific concerns about medication interactions, please consult your GP or midwife before use.

Can I use the Perineal Balm if I have a nut allergy?

Our Perineal Balm contains tamanu oil (derived from a tree nut) and sunflower seed oil. If you have a known nut or seed allergy, we do not recommend using this product. Please review the full ingredient list carefully before purchasing.

Can I use the Perineal Balm during pregnancy?

Yes. You can use our Perineal Balm during pregnancy to soothe haemorrhoid discomfort, which is very common in the third trimester. Apply externally to the affected area as needed.

Can the Perineal Balm be used after a C-section?

Yes. Our Perineal Balm can be applied to soothe soreness or itching away from the C-section incision site, for example on haemorrhoids. Apply to a cotton pad and gently dab rather than rubbing directly. Do not apply to the surgical incision without guidance from your healthcare provider.
